Franklin Pierce University invites applications for the position Director of Communications based at our Rindge, NH campus. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of the University public relations and communications plan that promotes our positive reputation locally, statewide, nationally and internationally to a wide range of audiences, both internal and external.

This position requires not only an accomplished writer with outstanding editorial skills, but also an individual who can work effectively and simultaneously in multiple forms of communication including print, web, social media, and multimedia. As this position will sometimes serve as the University spokesperson, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong oral communication skills and the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal and external constituents.  This position will also provide counsel and advice on major public relations issue through recommendation of options.  Collaboration is an important component of this position as the Director is expected to work with the President and senior staff, deans, managers and directors across the university constituency to develop clear, consistent and effective communication strategies.

The successful candidate will have five to eight years of management-level experience in public relations, publication and marketing; preferably in the higher education setting. Candidates must have a solid understanding of the principles of public relations and marketing. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required, a Master’s preferred. Candidate must possess exceptional written, verbal and visual communication skills along with outstanding collaborative skills. As travel may be required, the candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
