Ellen Berlin, Director of Media Relations, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute

Ellen Berlin has more than 25 years of experience in public relations, media relations, strategic communications and event planning. Ellen joined Dana-Farber’s Communications’ Department in 2014 as the Director of Media Relations where the focus is to increase awareness of the Institute’s faculty, treatment and research expertise and leadership. Previously, Ellen was a Vice President at Weber Shandwick, a global public relations agency, providing public relations counsel to numerous health care clients and prior to that was Director of Corporate Communications at Boston Medical Center and Boston University Medical Campus for 14 years. Before moving to and working in Boston, Ellen worked for a variety of public affairs consulting firms in Washington, DC and coordinated activities to support clients’ local and national legislative agendas. She worked on the Clinton/Gore presidential campaign serving on the National Advance Team and was appointed to a jobs in the Administration as Associate Director of Media Relations and Special Projects at the U.S. Department of Transportation and as the Director of Public and Consumer Affairs at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Ellen Berlin has a degree in public communication from The American University in Washington, DC and an MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

 

Leah Lesser, Marketing Communications Manager at Emerson Hospital in Concord

Leah Lesser is Emerson Hospital’s Marketing Communications Manager. She develops strategies and content for myriad communications channels, including digital, social, podcasts, videos, and traditional media. A graduate of Simmons University and Babson College, Leah’s PR and Marketing career includes work with organizations in the medical, education, and high tech sectors. She enjoys working with clinicians and patients whose lives are transformed through medical care and sharing these stories with the public.

 

Michael Morrison, Director of Media Relations at Massachusetts General Hospital

Michael is Director of Media Relations at Massachusetts General Hospital, the original and largest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. He leads a team responsible for the hospital’s daily media relations activities and oversees the department’s social media communication initiatives which include proactive storytelling, crisis/disaster communications, and customer service. Prior to joining MGH, Michael was a Publicist at the Museum of Science, Boston where he worked to promote the institution through traditional and social media. In his spare time he enjoys running, skiing, and cooking.
