About Us

First, our close-knit team genuinely likes working together. Seriously. This is a zero-ego environment of smart, savvy and intelligent professionals – all working remotely. We believe a healthy and respectful work culture breeds good work which equals happy clients. Happy clients provide opportunities for all of us to benefit and grow. Also, we bring our authentic selves to work daily with humor, humility and grace. We’re looking for the same in our next new colleague.

We are a B2B public relations agency founded in 1995. Our reputation proceeds us in the insurance, real estate, legal, and trade association industries, though we work in other business segments as well.

We’re looking for a colleague to join our team of eight full-time staffers and eight consultants who will treat our agency’s clients and reputation as their own. We’re looking for a new teammate who will nurture both.

The Role

The Public Relations Manager leads multiple client accounts daily. Ambition, tenacity and a natural inclination to lead rather than to be led are major factors in achieving success in this role. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, developing strategies and tactics to achieve client goals, leading client meetings, creating pitch concepts, drafting press releases, pitching reporters, coordinating media interviews on behalf of clients and nurturing those client relationships. There may be some nominal (less than 10%) travel involved. Project-based work, including crisis communications, is a responsibility of the position. The ability to successfully jungle multiple, competing tasks is crucial.

Performance Expectations

First, become and remain a valued, trusted and reliable resource for our clients. We are hired for our expertise and skill. We’re not order takers; we’re trusted advisors so we act accordingly with professionalism, respect and above average dependability.

Second, at all times, our clients must feel you, and by extension our agency, are part of their team. You must be someone who consistently delivers well-considered, creative and effective ideas and recommendations to our clients. And those clients should smile when they see your name on caller ID or spot your email in their inbox, even in a crisis.

Third, while we expect outstanding client relations from our account managers, we also believe achieving the goals we agree to with our clients is equally vital. In PR, we have to keep the hits coming to retain our clients and meet our mutual objectives. You ought to have an amazing media relations track record to win our attention for your candidacy.

Finally, you must play well with others. Collegial is a term that matters a great deal to us. All egos, from the top down, must be left at the door. This is non-negotiable and critical for any candidate to be successful at Kimball Hughes Public Relations.
