The Challenges of Servicing Small Business PR Clients

We’ve all worked with small business owners trying to grow their brands using PR – but is it worth it in the long run? This lively session developed just for PRSA Independent Practitioners will include tales from the trenches and a frank discussion about the pros and cons of working with small businesses. In addition, we’ll discuss ways to streamline and improve services to small business clients to maximize our time and profit. The meeting will be hosted by Tara Goodwin Frier, CEO of Goodwin PR in Walpole, who has worked with large and small companies for more than 15 years.

At this free event for sole practitioners, we will discuss the challenges and some solutions for this unique client niche, including:

The Pros:

  • Small client today…big client tomorrow
  • Easier to get paid
  • Energized, focused and appreciative of our work

And The Cons:

  • Unrealistic demands as though he/she is your largest client
  • Payments can be stalled – “waiting for my next funding round…”
  • Value proposition difficult to assess – practitioners end up spending far more time on these clients than budgeted
